I performed an auction inspection on this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 at The Gooding and Co. facility in Van Nuys, CA. Gooding & Co. offered the car through one of the Geared Online auctions. Gooding sold the car for $290,000 at auction hammer, $319,000 with buyer premium. In light of winning bid, I would consider the car well sold at the time but shows the strength of a real Z06 in todays market.
This was a car with a known history and still remains unrestored, however still looks good. Gooding & Co. was selling this for a long time collector in Pennsylvania. Chevrolet built only 199 Corvette’s with the Z06 option in 1963. The Z06 option included Fuel Injection, Heavy Duty Brakes, and Heavy Duty Suspension. The earlier cars also had the 36 gallon fuel tank and was a separate option on the later cars. This later example was one of the cars without the large tank. Photos below will show the overall condition and some of the unique pieces of the Z06 option. This Corvette auction inspection showed the car for what it was, allowing my client to make a buying decision.
