Expert Auto Appraisals performed an inspection an inspection on this 1967 Lamborghini P400 Miura. I performed the inspection in Georgia.
Lamborghini built only 275 P400 Miura’s from 1966 to 1969. Marcello Gandini while with Bertone designed the Miura and the Countach to follow. Lamborghini fitted the Miura with a transversely mounted 4.0 liter 12 cylinder engine and a 5 speed transaxle.
I first inspected this car in Cary, NC in June 2014. The car was yellow then. My client purchased the car, and ultimately decided to restore the car to its original specification. The restoration began in 2016. I oversaw the restoration visiting the car several times at the paint and body, assembler, and mechanical facilities in California. The restoration was finally completed in August 2019. As it turned out, literally minutes before the car’s showing at Concorso Italiano in Monterey 2019. As expected, the car took first place in Lamborghini class. The car looked great, and as a result, a spectator at the show ultimately purchased the car.
Let’s fast forward to 2021. I received a call to inspect a Miura in Georgia for a client in the UK. Quickly into our call, I realized that the was one that I new quite well. I made a trip to Georgia for the inspection of the Lamborghini P400 Miura, ultimately learning that the car was never driven since the last time I saw in Monterey. Due to this, the car did need some sorting that was never done. All in all, a great example of one of the best looking cars of all time, and arguably the best design from Gandini.
