This January, this 1967 Toyota 2000GT auction inspection was one of several inspections at the Mecum Kissimmee Auction. Only 351 examples produced from 1967 to 1970, only 62 examples made for the US market. Yamaha built the 2000GT for Toyota. The design was state of the art at the time. The design features a spine chassis, wishbone suspension, 2.0L inline 6 that was fitted with a aluminum head, and forged pistons. The interior has beautiful gauges, rosewood dash, and a mahogany steering wheel. The designers were targeting Porsche 911, Jaguar E-Type, and the other top European sports cars of the day. Carroll Shelby successfully campaigned 3 of the cars in SCCA events in the United States. The 1967 James Bond movie You Only Live Twice featured the only 2000GT built as a roadster.
1967 Toyota 2000GT auction inspection highlighted that this is a very nice car that has a solid history. The condition of the car shows of an older quality restoration. The estimate on the car was $800,000 to $1,000,000 which was within the range of the current market. My client did bid on the vehicle, but was short of the reserve.
