I performed a Ferrari Auction inspection in Scottsdale on this 1968 Ferrari 206GT. Gooding & Co. offered at the car at their Scottsdale Arizona Auction Week in 2015. This was an unrestored car, perhaps to fault, that was a great candidate for a restoration. These are alloy bodied cars, and are as expensive as anything to restore. The car was complete and had the original engine and gearbox.
The pictures below show you what $400,000 gets you in the 206GT market in 2015. My client was the under bidder when hammered sold at $380,000, netting an all in price of $418,000. As a result, the car sold within the range of expected market. These are awesome cars that have great lines, mid engine, alloy body, rarity, etc. Ferrari built only 152 examples of the 206GT in 1968. It sure does look nice on the block under this auction lights. The staff at Gooding & Co. did a great job selling the car. The consignor was very nice and shared the cars history and interesting story.
