We are now offering a product that can be of great value to any owner of an investment grade car, or a seller of a like vehicle. This is a certification of the vehicle in it’s condition as inspected. This can particularly helpful with Corvette’s and Muscle Cars where the engine, transmission, and rear end castings and stampings are very important to the buyers of these vehicles. On these certifications, I carefully inspect and photograph VIN, Trim Tags, Engine Date Castings, Engine Casting Numbers, Transmission Castings, Transmission Assembly Stampings, Rear End Date Codes, and Rear End Date Stampings. We inspect all of these for correctness and originality. This then carries on to all other aspects of the car. This includes frame / chassis, body sheet metal, floors, interior, and supporting trim components. On a typical Pre Purchase Inspection of a like car, we do all of this. As a seller of a car like this, this can be a very disarming tool that will create both trust and comfort with potential buyers. Even the documentation of things that are incorrect will give a realistic buyer the sense that you as a seller is being forthright and have taken the time to ensure that your representation of the car is accurate.
This is a great tool if you are selling a car at an auction where potential bidders have limitations to access the car. I work at most of the major auctions performing Pre Purchase Inspections and it often amazes me how few sellers actually try to properly inform potential bidders on the vehicles true condition. Sellers that do are usually rewarded with more bidders, and most importantly, more comfortable bidders.
Legal and Ethical Benefits
I have been involved as an Expert Witness and consultant to both individuals and the Attorneys that represent them in cases of misrepresentation and fraud. The one single common denominator in each of these cases is that the sellers made claims that were not supported with any sort of documentation and they made no attempt to document the vehicle. The car you have is what it is. It’s old, it’s had multiple owners, and things happen. That is accepted and understood. Having you vehicle Certified and Documented prior to sale can keep you from making an incorrect claim, that in most cases isn’t your intention. This will allow you to you to provide a potential buyer everything that a buyer would pay me to do on his behalf, creating a positive start to a potential deal. The Dealer Network
Launching during the 4th quarter of 2013 is the first our certified dealers going live with their inventory that has been Certified by Expert Auto Appraisals. Dealer principals have mixed thoughts on making public a critical look at the vehicles that they own and are selling online. The pre owned late model car market has had manufacture based certification for some time now. Vehicle history reporting companies such as CarFax and AutoCheck have been providing accident history on these dealer inventories. The dealer principals, along with their management staff had to adapt, and basically had to inventory better cars, and properly represent the cars mechanical condition to the manufacturer that carried the CPO Warranty. This has resulted in many dealers doing a better job in representation of the cars, and being far more discriminating to cars that they choose to represent, and selling the cars for more money to a more comfortable and confident buyer. Look for our listing of dealers that have taken the time, money, and effort in certifying the inventory with the intent of bringing to you a well represented vintage automobile.
